Thanks to this, we gain access to thousands of models, weapons, characters, skins or items from Valve’s extensive library of games, as well as modifications and scripts created by players themselves using the Lua language and published in a special workshop available on Steam. To fully enjoy the possibilities offered by Garry’s Mod, all you need to do is have any Source-based game installed on your hard drive, such as Half-Life 2, Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike: Source or Left 4 Dead. Since then, it has been distributed and supported by this platform as a full-fledged commercial application, constantly growing and bringing together a community of millions of fans. On November 29, 2006, the version numbered 10 officially debuted on Steam.
The program quickly gained masses of supporters, which contributed to its rapid development.

The first version of Gmoda was created in 2004 by enthusiast Garry Newman and has been honored with many Mod of the Year awards, such as by GameSpy, Mod DB or PC Gamer. A characteristic feature of Garry’s Mod is the possibility of playing in the sandbox mode, which means the lack of strictly defined goals for players and practically unlimited influence on both the generated environment and the rules of the game. In practice, it is a powerful workshop in which we have the opportunity to create, duplicate and combine objects from games based on this engine, in accordance with the laws of physics simulated by Havok’s software. Garry’s Mod is a commercial version of one of the most popular modifications to the Source engine.
